If I had to write a caption for my weight loss story it would read, "Slow and steady wins the race." I didn't have any huge weight loss all at once, but I was very consistent most weeks and would usually lose between 1 and 2.8 pounds. As a busy mom to a toddler and infant I don't have a lot of time to devote to going to the gym so I had to become more conscious of every bite that I put into mouth. I entered everything into my fitnesspal application on my iphone and kept track of any activities. I cut out all processed foods and was careful with the calories I consumed. In fact, I have really become a person who wants most bites to count toward helping me stay healthy and strong. I say most bites because I did allow myself to indulge in some treats with my family or when we were traveling. This weight loss challenge is really a catalyst for a change in the way I think about food and part of that means being realistic. I like to enjoy dessert on occasion and a glass of wine with a visiting friend is important to me. Overall, balance is the word that best describes how I achieved my weight loss. I still have more to lose, but am now at a smaller weight than my pre-pregnancy weight with my first child. I feel proud of myself and inspired to keep going. In fact, I recently purchased a Jillian Michaels workout DVD and am looking forward to adding more formal exercise to my daily routine. Look out if we have another challenge! :-)

My weight loss was a slow simple process. I ate less at every meal and when I needed that sweet fix I ate fresh fruit. Even when I didn't lose much I told myself it would be better next week.

I lost some weight at this challenge. Although it was not perfect, I still lost some. I'll keep going after the challenge. Therefore, I want to tell you some experience about lose weight.
During the first two months, I ate meat and starch separately. For example, if I eat beef, pork, ham or etc. today, I won't eat bread, rice, pancake, etc. In addition, no matter what am I eat today, I can always eat vegetables. Of course that I need to do some exercise, sometimes I go for a walk after dinner, and sometimes I go swimming afternoon, but I didn't keep doing these(because too lazy sometimes...). At the last month, I didn't eat too much food every meal, just eat until 80% full. Otherwise, I won't eat any food after 7pm. Here is a little tips, NO SNACKS and SODAS. Hope these experience can help some friends. Thank You.
And last... but not last in the race... 3rd Place men's category... winner of $30... tripling his money while losing weight.. is doin it 4 wife: aka Leslie Shafer! Leslie lost a total of 6.40% for a grand total of 16.0 lbs!!! GO Leslie!! Check out Leslie's before and after pics along with his success story!
I walked on a treadmill everyday except Friday night, going 2 to 2.5 miles total. If I didn't feel well, I'd try to do 30 minutes at least. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, I would extend the exercise to 60+ minutes as we got closer to the contest's end. I also worked out a couple hours before bedtime, after my kid went to bed. I think that kept my metabolism up as I slept. Having my spouse in the contest encouraged me to compete. I think we will both do the contest again if we have a chance. Foodwise, we tried to drop heavy carbs and eat lots of veggies with lean proteins. Lots of kale, cucumbers, and salads.
Thanks again for the contest. It was a good opportunity to focus on healthy living!
