We've got COOTIES!

Aren't these little dudes darling?  We are having fun tonight at the Cricut Swarm looking for bug pieces to create our Cooties.  Amanda went around hiding the pieces and our group roamed the store trying to find all the pieces to create their cooties.  After making a few trips around the store people found their pieces and turned in their bugs for prizes.  Fun, huh?

Tonight we've got lots of machines buzzing and people are creating such wonderful cards, pages and even a canvas project.  Makes me want to run home and grab my Cricut and start cutting something, anything, and get some fun projects done.  And you know I'm breaking out the Cooties game with the kids tomorrow.  So cute!

Scrappy Hour LIVE

We're having another fun Scrappy Hour here at GT's.  As I was walking around stealing ideas, er checking out what everyone was working on, I found this little gem by Tracye Coleman.  She makes these fun altered books by taking used hardbound books and converting them to scrapbooks or journals.  She separates some of the pages out, glues pages together and then the fun really begins.  By adding some paint and some scrap pieces of paper she creates these fun books for family and friends.  I like how in this one she left the words from the chapter visible.  What a fun project!  So glad she shared it with us.

How Sweet it is!

Our Golden TIcket winner, Lynn Fontaine, created this wonderful layout highlighting a trip her husband took to see the San Francisco 49ers.  And being a HUGE New York Giants fan it must be good in order for me to post it.  Plus, what are the odds I'm going to find a perfect layout for the big game today?  Talk about karma!

The retreat is winding down, but the troops are still creating and enjoying their spa time, finishing up the fun challenges, and getting excited for the last raffle prize drawing of the day.  Thank you to everyone that made this Spa and Scrap Retreat so much fun!  We look forward to seeing everyone again soon and for those that didn't make this one plan to join us for another time.  We'd love to hang out with you!

 

Live from the Sweet Retreat

Are you kidding me with the fun we're having here tonight? Should be illegal I tell you.  I know my scale is going to hate me tomorrow!  Great food, good friends and scrapping and treats galore!  I'm going to go ahead and brag on the crew here at Green Tangerines.  This is our third Spa and Scrap weekend and these girls are ROCKIN' da house!  The goodies are plentiful with a cupcake display table, a candy bar and some decadent caramel covered brownies for dessert.  Each guest gets to sit amid darling decorations and takes home a fun shirt, some spa goodies and the cutest mason jar filled with brownie mix.  Really a great job.  And I can brag on them because all I had to do was show up, look cute and take credit.

Winner of our Golden Thickers contest, Lynn Fontaine and her fun plus one Susan Smith, were here this weekend to enjoy the spa treatments and scrappy time.  I have a fun layout to post tomorrow of Lynn's.  She's a phenomenal scrapper!  And look at that cute Abbot Clan!  Sisters Lisa and Leslie and mom Shirley are joined by their friend Kerstin for the weekend of festivities.  A Spa and Scrap Retreat wouldn't be the same without them as they've attended all three with us and we enjoy their company.

I'm off to quality control some of those brownies.  We have a full house filled with such fun people!  I hope you'll consider joining us for the next Spa and Scrap Retreat or at least a fun night of Scrappy Hour soon.  Until next week, I wish you many happy memories and the pictures to prove it.

Live from Scrappy Hour

Hello from Scrappy Hour!  Having a fun time tonight.  Everyone is busy working on projects.  I saw lots of cards being made in preparation for the Holidays that are coming up.  Some are working on gifts and calendars and others are putting together pages for their albums.  One gal is finishing up her album from the "Twilight" class that we had today.    A big hit!

As I cruised through the rooms I noticed that almost every table had some sort of snacky item to help them keep up their energy level to make it until Midnight.  Chocolate, hard candies and, of course, some coffee and cupcakes.  I know that my two faves were well represented tonight. I snapped a picture of Sylvia G's box from Icing on the Cupcake and paired it up with my Salted Caramel Mocha Frapuccino (which by the way should be illegal it's so good).  Plenty of goodness to be found in the rooms.

Personally, I love me some Good-n-Plenty when I scrap.  I always have some on hand for when the mood strikes for me to pull out some scrappy stuff.  I even keep some in my tote.  Looking forward to seeing what you bring in to snack on the next time you come to Scrappy Hour.  I promise I won't even try to steal any of it.  But don't put it past me to take a picture of it and post it on the blog.

Live from Scrappy Hour

A big Saturday Scrappy Hour hello!  We're having a fun night here at Green Tangerines with some scrappy friends.  Definitely Fall outside tonight....brrrrr!  But we're toasty and warm and scrapping.  Lots of fun projects here, but as I was nosing my way through the rooms it was Miss Kristine S. that caught my eye tonight.  She's working on some fun calendar pages for her kids.  She says she's been making one every year since the kids were born.  What a fun "year at a glance" project.  She makes one and then has it copied for each kids.  She used an 11x8½ size to create these beautiful pages.

If you aren't as ambitious as Kristine to create your own calendar pages, but want to do something similar for yourself or for a family member, don't forget that we have our 12 Weeks pages that can be used as layouts for your books or for calendar pages.  Takes some of the guess work out for you and makes for a great way to showcase your year.

I'm off to remind the girls about the Tuesday Challenge of a Sports page that includes an action shot, the team name and some numbers.  Monday night is the deadline for the chance to win a $5 gift card.  Hope you play along too and that we see you at Scrappy Hour soon!

Scrap Pink-GTL

Happy Saturday!  I popped into the store tonight to see what everyone was up to for the annual Scrap Pink event we're having.  So much fun!  The ladies have on their cute new shirts and there are fun pink balloons on all the tables.  So festive!  And such a good cause.  The ladies tonight raised a total of $502 that will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Awesome!

Touring through the rooms tonight I saw ladies working on cards, kits and album pages.  Plus some great conversations. I'm not sure you all know how much I love working Scrappy Hour!  So many cute pages and ideas. And did I mention cake?  Our events never fail to have good cake. 

I love this page that Phyllis is putting together.  She's creating New Year's pages for a Holiday Pages swap that she is in and wanted bubbles in her Cricut-cut champagne glasses.  By using Photo Shop Elements she was able to create the perfect champagne bubbles "paper" and have it printed up as 4x6 photos and then cut them to fit in the glasses and used a bubbles punch to create little elements on her pages.  She still wants to add a journaling box and use some Stickles to create the illusion of the cork popping to ring in the New Year.  So much fun!  I'm sure the gals in her swap are going to love having this creation in their collection.

Live from Scrappy Hour

 

Hi!  I'm so excited to bring you our new featured blog here at Green Tangerines. Each Saturday night I'll be posting some of the great things that we do here during Scrappy Hour and other events that we have like the one we're having tonight. It's a "Live from Green Tangerines" post that will feature people, ideas and even projects from Scrappy Hour. 

This weekend we are having our annual Fall Retreat Weekend "Scrap in the City".  What a fabulous time we're having!  Fun decorations, delicious food and tons of time to scrapbook. All this while following a theme from the hit television show "Sex in the City".  Don't tell Kelly, but I'm just refering to it as my "Launch Party".  I just love all of the projects and inspiration that you find here on Saturday nights and tonight is no exception.

 To add to our fun we presented our guests with a couple of challenges and they did a fabulous job.  The picture above is from Lisa Dones.  The challenge was to create something using initials from each of the four characters.  That meant everyone had to use something that started with a "C" for Carrie, an "S" for Samantha, a "C" for Charlotte and an "M" for Miranda.  Lisa used "C"ardstock, "S"tickers, "C"hipboard letters and "M"etal brads to create this simple and fun layout of her son Anthony.  I think she did a great job of incorporating the elements to highlight her pictures.

We're getting ready to wind down from our day that featured Waldorf salad, NY Strip steak with mashed potatoes and baked apples for dessert and a couple of fun challenges.  We hope that if you can't join us in person for the next Scrappy Hour you'll take them time to check the blog to grab some inspiration and see what we're up to.

If you like the idea of challenges, be sure to check the blog on Tuesdays for a weekly challenge from me.  Starting on October 18th I'll present Tuesday's with a Twist.  I will post up a challenge that can be anything from using a specific product or color to using a sketch or even something fun like a card or quick gift idea.
